June 6 – July 4, 2026

Tue – Sat 10:00 – 18:30

TARTCH Gallery | Taipei

114, Taipei City, Neihu District, Section 6, Nanjing E Rd, No. 503

SHIKISAISHA represented artist Naoki Shimoyama will participate in the group exhibition “Wild Silence” at TARTCH Gallery in Taipei, Taiwan.

SHIKISAISHA has continuously introduced Shimoyama’s work both in Japan and internationally, focusing on his distinctive sculptural practice in which animals become vessels for projecting inner emotions, thoughts, and psychological landscapes into physical form.

Within Shimoyama’s works, animals do not function merely as representations of nature, but rather as filters that connect viewers to different dimensions of consciousness and perception. While presented as sculptures with tangible mass and physical presence, their existence remains in a constant state of transformation, quietly moving between the visible and invisible, reality and imagination.

In “Wild Silence,” Japanese artists Naoki Shimoyama and Takashi Kuno, together with Taiwanese artist Wang Po-Cheng, explore themes of nature, life, memory, and instinct through distinctly different materials and visual languages.

Throughout the exhibition, traces of animals, plants, minerals, soil, and unseen forms of life quietly emerge within the space. Though subtle and seemingly still, these presences are never truly silent.
Shimoyama’s sculptures carry an atmosphere suspended somewhere between mythology and reality. Unicorns, foxes, rabbits, and other creatures appear gentle in form, yet possess an uncanny spiritual presence, quietly gazing upon the world like guardians from another layer of time.

The “wildness” explored within this exhibition does not refer to violence or untamed force, but rather to a quieter and more primal state of existence.
It resides within the gaze of animals, the textures of the earth, traces buried beneath time, and emotions that can never be fully articulated through language.
In recent years, Shimoyama’s work has continued to expand internationally, particularly throughout Taiwan and other parts of Asia, and this exhibition marks another important opportunity for presenting his work to a wider audience across the region.
“Wild Silence” is not simply an exhibition about silence itself.
Rather, it asks whether, within an increasingly noisy world, we are still capable of hearing the faint yet truthful voices of life that continue to exist around us.
