Exhibition Overview: Yuji Kanamaru Exhibition "Hoshi no Kioku" (Memory of Stars)
This exhibition features the works of Yuji Kanamaru, an artist known for his unique textures and humorous style. His lifelong work has focused on animals that embody the concept of time, such as ancient fish and tortoises.
A highlight of this exhibition is the collection of new three-dimensional works. Expanding on the success of his pieces at Art Fair Tokyo, these sculptures use wood flour and stone powder clay as a base. By incorporating elements like houses on the animals' backs and natural driftwood, Kanamaru translates the collage techniques of his paintings into a tangible, three-dimensional space, as if the animals have stepped right out of his canvases.
Furthermore, this exhibition commemorates the publication of the picture book "Hoshi no Kioku." Visitors can enjoy the warm yet mysterious world of these creatures that carry memories through time, and signed copies of the picture book are available for purchase at the gallery.
