MEGは、人間の感情を「見せる感情＝表層」と「見せない感情＝深層」というレイヤー構造として捉え、作品を通じてその乖離を表現しています。 人が社会を生き抜くために見せる姿や、本来の姿を隠してコントロールする感情に着目し、感情のまま生きる動物のシルエットに人工的な絵文字の笑顔を組み合わせた作品は、表層と深層の感情のズレを映し出す鏡のような役割を果たします。 作品を通じて、人が持つ生きる美しさや、表面だけで判断する無意識の偏見に気づくことの重要性を訴えています。

Born in 1992 in Kanagawa, MEG explores human emotions through a layered structure of “visible emotions = surface” and “hidden emotions = depth,” expressing the disparity between them in her work. She focuses on the personas people adopt to navigate society and the emotions they suppress and control beneath the surface. By combining the silhouettes of animals—creatures that live by their instincts—with artificial emoji-like smiles, her works serve as mirrors reflecting the misalignment between surface and deep emotions. Through her art, she highlights the beauty of human resilience and emphasizes the importance of recognizing unconscious biases that arise from judging others based solely on appearances.
