四季彩舎では初となる下山直紀による個展を開催いたします。

「lookback」と題した本展では、作家がこれまで発表に至らなかった構想や記憶に改めて向き合い、現在の視点から再構築した新作7点を発表いたします。

失われた可能性や「もしも」の分岐点に光を当て、時間を跳躍的に捉えるという視点から、過去と現在を新たに接続する試みとなります。

SHIKISAISHA is pleased to present lookback, the first solo exhibition by Naoki Shimoyama at our gallery.

In this exhibition, Shimoyama revisits ideas and memories that never came to fruition, reconstructing them through the lens of the present.The seven new works on view shine light on paths not taken and possibilities that were once left behind, proposing a new connection between past and present through a non-linear, leap-like approach to time.

「lookback」は、過去をただ振り返るのではなく、選ばれなかった道筋や埋もれた構想を再びすくい上げ、現在の視点で再構築する行為です。

かつて形にならなかったアイデアや記憶を再起動させ、「もしも」の視点から新たな“現在”を立ち上げる。それは、時間をなぞることではなく、失われた可能性の痕跡をたどる創造的なアクションでもあります。

私は、過去・現在・未来という直線的な時間軸ではなく、《意識の跳躍》としての時間の層に関心を持っています。

振り返ることは、何かを終わらせることでも立ち止まることでもありません。それはむしろ、別の現在へとつながる扉を開く行為なのです。

lookback is not about simply retracing the past.It is an act of retrieving unrealized ideas and forgotten paths, and reconstructing them from a present perspective.

By rebooting memories and concepts that never took form, I seek to create a new “now” from a “what if” point of view.This is not about following the flow of time, but about tracing the faint traces of lost possibilities—a creative action that reclaims what was once overlooked.

Rather than viewing time as a straight line divided into past, present, and future, I am interested in its layers as leaps of consciousness.To look back is not to stop or to dwell—it is to open a door to another present.
