Haruomi Izumi (b. 1979, Chiba, Japan) completed the Master's Program in Design at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2005. Working primarily with motifs drawn from nature, such as plants and landscapes, Izumi has developed a diverse body of work that includes paintings inspired by Japan's seasonal flora and traditional visual motifs, as well as his distinctive Sokoku series, in which trees are transformed into refined geometric patterns. He has held numerous solo exhibitions at major department stores and galleries throughout Japan, including a solo exhibition at Seizan Gallery New York in 2020. His work has also been presented at international art fairs in Italy, the United Kingdom, New York, and other locations, earning recognition both in Japan and abroad. Rather than depicting nature in a purely representational manner, Izumi seeks to extract its underlying order and structure, reconstructing it into refined visual forms. His paintings transform plants and landscapes into contemplative compositions that balance vitality with serenity, expressing a distinctly Japanese aesthetic through a contemporary visual language.
