瀬戸優の個展「CIRCULATION 2」が、Bunkamura Gallery 8/にて開催されます。
瀬戸優は、自然科学への考察をもとに、野生動物を主題とした彫刻作品を制作しています。
主な素材であるテラコッタに手やヘラの痕跡を残し、玉眼を用いることで、動物たちの姿に確かな存在感と生命の気配を宿らせます。
Bunkamura Galleryでの前回の個展「CIRCULATION」では、食物連鎖における「捕食の瞬間」に焦点を当て、生と死が交差する緊張を表現しました。その続編として4年ぶりに開催される本展では、視点をその前後に流れる時間へと広げ、「存在」「野生」「循環」「再生」という四つの場面を通して、死と再生が織りなす生命の循環を捉えます。
会場には、獲物を狙うジャッカルや捕食を終えたハゲワシ、ライオンの頭骨と植物など、新作を中心に約40点が並びます。初公開となる骨のシリーズやキャンバス作品を含め、野生の静けさと、その内側に連綿と息づく生命の営みをご覧いただけます。

SHIKISAISHA GALLERY artist Yu Seto will present his solo exhibition “CIRCULATION 2” at Bunkamura Gallery 8/ in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Drawing on his observations of the natural world, Seto creates sculptures centered on wild animals. Working primarily in terracotta, he retains the tactile traces of his hands and tools on the clay and incorporates glass eyes, imbuing each animal with a vivid sense of presence and life.
His previous solo exhibition at Bunkamura Gallery, “CIRCULATION,” focused on moments of predation within the food chain, capturing the tension at the threshold between life and death. Returning to the venue four years later, “CIRCULATION 2” expands this perspective to the passage of time surrounding those moments. Through four interconnected themes—Existence, the Wild, Circulation, and Regeneration—the exhibition considers the continuous cycle through which death gives rise to new life.
The exhibition brings together approximately 40 works, primarily new pieces, including jackals stalking their prey, vultures after feeding, and compositions of a lion’s skull intertwined with plant life. A newly introduced series featuring bones, as well as canvas works, will also be presented for the first time.

Live Sculpture-Making Event
Yu Seto will create a wolf sculpture in clay during a live public session. The completed work will remain on view through the end of the exhibition, allowing visitors to observe how its appearance gradually changes over time.

瀬戸優 Yu Seto
瀬戸優（1994年 神奈川県小田原市生まれ）は、東京藝術大学美術学部彫刻科を卒業後、同大学大学院美術研究科修士課程彫刻専攻を修了。
自然科学への関心を基盤に、主にテラコッタを用いて野生動物を主題とした彫刻作品を制作している。
作家の触覚や制作の軌跡を表面に残すことで、生命の構造や動き、存在の本質を捉えようと試みている。
国内外で作品を発表するほか、ファッションやデザインなど領域を横断した活動も展開している。
Yu Seto (b. 1994, Odawara, Kanagawa, Japan) graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts and completed his MFA in Sculpture at the same university. Drawing on his interest in natural science, he creates sculptures of wild animals, primarily using terracotta. By leaving traces of his touch and the sculpting process visible on their surfaces, Seto explores the structures and movements of living beings and the essence of their existence. In addition to exhibiting in Japan and internationally, his practice extends across disciplines, including collaborations in fashion and design.
