Kazuyuki Takishita Born in Kumamoto in 1975. Completed his MFA at Tokyo University of the Arts. His work reinterprets traditional Japanese narratives and motifs through a distinctive contemporary lens. In his “Momotaro” series, he shifts the focus to the ogres, subverting conventional narratives and presenting them as lively and humorous protagonists. Characterized by carved lines and vivid colors, his paintings bridge tradition and modernity with a dynamic and playful approach.

Ryutarotakemochi Yamamura Born in Kumamoto in 1976. Completed his MFA at Tokyo University of the Arts. Working exclusively with ink, he creates highly detailed depictions of plants and insects. His compositions—where flowers, leaves, and insects intertwine into dense formations— possess both stillness and overwhelming presence. Through delicate gradations of ink, his works reveal hidden layers of time and presence within natural structures.

Yuji Kanamaru Born in Kanagawa in 1978. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. Working from a foundation in Nihonga, he develops a distinctive painterly language defined by unique textures and layered, vibrant yet subtle colors. Incorporating elements such as fabric, fragments of newspapers, and intentional cracks, his surfaces generate a singular material presence. Influenced by his childhood spent in the Middle East, his work evokes a world where a sense of the unfamiliar and nostalgia intersect.
