森田夏鈴

Karin Morita

森田夏鈴は、三重県の自然環境と幼少期からの料理経験を背景に、「食」を主題とした作品制作を行うアーティストである。

食べるという行為は、本来、他の命を取り込み自身の命を繋ぐ、生と死が交差する営みであり、古くは神事としての側面も持っていた。しかし現代においては、その本質的な意味は希薄化し、視覚的な美しさや味覚的な快楽へと関心が偏りつつある。

森田は、動植物の食材を観察し、料理し、食べ、描くという一連の行為を通じて、自然の理と身体感覚を再接続することを試みている。作品は「いただきます」という行為の延長として位置づけられ、命への感謝と自己への内省を促す装置として機能する。

果物や食材といったモチーフは、嗜好品として消費される存在であると同時に、自然の循環の中で生命を繋ぐ役割を担っている。森田は、その二重性に着目し、自然と人工、消費と生命のあいだに横たわる関係性を可視化する。

2025年より開始されたプロジェクト「美味礼讃 – Fruit in Season –」では、1年間にわたり「旬」をテーマにした作品を継続的に発表。食を通して生命の本質を問い直す試みを展開している。

三重県出身。2016年三重大学教育学部美術教育課程卒業。2025年よりオーストラリアへ留学、2026年帰国予定。帰国後、四季彩舎にて個展を予定している。

Karin Morita is an artist whose practice centers on “food,” shaped by her upbringing in the natural environment of Mie Prefecture and her early experiences with cooking. Eating was once regarded as a sacred act—a ritual in which life and death coexist, as one life is taken in order to sustain another. In contemporary society, however, awareness of this fundamental nature has diminished, with attention often focused solely on appearance and taste. Morita engages in a process of observing, cooking, eating, and depicting ingredients, through which she seeks to reconnect with the principles of nature and the awareness of her own body. Her works function as an extension of the act of saying “itadakimasu,” serving as a gesture of gratitude toward life and an invitation to self-reflection. Motifs such as fruits and other ingredients exist both as consumable luxuries and as entities within the natural cycle of life. By focusing on this duality, Morita visualizes the relationship between nature and artificiality, consumption and life. In 2025, she launched the long-term project “Gastronomic Praise – Fruit in Season –,” presenting works over the course of a year based on the concept of seasonality. Through this project, she reexamines the essence of life through the act of eating. Born in Mie Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Mie University (Art Education Program) in 2016. She began studying abroad in Australia in 2025 and is scheduled to return to Japan in 2026, when she will hold a solo exhibition at SHIKISAISHA
