この度四季彩舎では、グループ展「SHAFT 2」を開催いたします。
「SHAFT」は2024年にスタートした企画展です。瀬戸優がキュレーターを務め、次世代を担う彫刻家を紹介するとともに、世代や素材、表現を越えた交流を通じて、現代彫刻の魅力と可能性を発信することを目的としています。
第二回となる本展では、前回に引き続き参加する白谷琢磨、山田歩に加え、新たに安達響を迎え、瀬戸優を含む4名の彫刻家による作品をご紹介いたします。
会場では、出展作家による特別対談を収録した冊子も配布いたします。
彫刻という分野は、一人の作家だけで盛り上がるものではありません。
世代や素材を越えて魅力的な作家が現れ、その存在を互いに知ってもらうことで、はじめて豊かな文化が育っていくと考えています。
SHAFTは、そのための小さなきっかけになればという思いから始めた展覧会です。
第一回を開催した2024年から2年。この短い期間にも、社会や表現を取り巻く環境は大きく変化しました。
情報やコンテンツが目まぐるしく流れる現代だからこそ、一つひとつの作品と時間をかけて向き合い、自らの表現を愚直に積み重ねる彫刻家の存在には、大きな価値があると感じています。 今回は4名の作家にご参加いただきました。それぞれ素材もテーマも異なりますが、その表現の根底には揺るがない「軸」があります。 だからこそ、多様な作品が生まれ、それぞれが強い存在感を放っています。 本展を通して、現代彫刻の新しい可能性と、それぞれの作家が持つ確かな個性を感じていただけましたら幸いです。

SHIKISAISHA is pleased to present SHAFT 2, the second edition of the group exhibition SHAFT.
Launched in 2024, SHAFT is a curatorial project organized by sculptor Yu Seto. The exhibition introduces emerging sculptors while fostering dialogue across generations, materials, and artistic approaches, with the aim of highlighting the richness and future possibilities of contemporary sculpture.
This second edition features returning artists Takuma Shiratani and Ayumu Yamada, joined by Hibiki Adachi, alongside curator and participating artist Yu Seto. Together, the four sculptors present works that reflect distinct materials, concepts, and approaches to contemporary sculpture.
Visitors will also receive a complimentary exhibition booklet featuring a special roundtable discussion with the participating artists.
Sculpture is not a field that can thrive through the efforts of a single artist alone. I believe that a vibrant culture develops only when compelling artists emerge across generations and materials, and their work becomes known to one another and to a wider audience.
SHAFT began with the hope of becoming a small catalyst for that process.
Two years have passed since the first edition in 2024. Even within this relatively short time, the social and cultural environment surrounding artistic expression has changed significantly.
In an age when information and content move at an overwhelming pace, I believe there is profound value in sculptors who devote themselves to their practice—patiently engaging with each work and steadily pursuing their own artistic vision.
This exhibition brings together four artists whose materials and themes differ greatly. Yet beneath each of their practices lies an unwavering core—a distinct shaft that supports and defines their expression.
It is precisely because of this strong foundation that such diverse works can emerge, each possessing its own powerful presence.
I hope this exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to discover new possibilities in contemporary sculpture while experiencing the distinctive individuality of each participating artist.
Yu Seto
白谷琢磨
白谷琢磨（1994年 佐賀県生まれ）は、2019年に東京藝術大学美術学部彫刻科を卒業、2021年に同大学大学院美術研究科彫刻専攻を修了。
主に檜を用いた木彫作品を制作し、折り紙をモチーフに、日本文化に根付く「見立て」と、その奥にある祈りや信仰の感覚を探求している。檜、漆、岩絵具など日本で古くから受け継がれてきた素材や技法を用い、儚い紙の形を時間に耐えうる彫刻へと昇華させている。
Takuma Shiratani (b. 1994, Saga, Japan) graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019 and completed his MFA in Sculpture at the same university in 2021. Working primarily with Japanese cypress, he uses origami as a motif to explore the Japanese cultural practice of mitate and the sense of prayer and spirituality that lies beyond it. Using traditional materials such as Japanese cypress, urushi lacquer, and mineral pigments, Shiratani transforms the ephemeral forms of paper into enduring sculptures.
瀬戸優 Yu Seto
瀬戸優（1994年 神奈川県小田原市生まれ）は、東京藝術大学美術学部彫刻科を卒業後、同大学大学院美術研究科修士課程彫刻専攻を修了。
自然科学への関心を基盤に 、主にテラコッタを用いて野生動物を主題とした彫刻作品を制作している。
作家の触覚や制作の軌跡を表面に残すことで、生命の構造や動き、存在の本質を捉えようと試みている。
国内外で作品を発表するほか、ファッションやデザインなど領域を横断した活動も展開している。
Yu Seto (b. 1994, Odawara, Kanagawa, Japan) graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts and completed his MFA in Sculpture at the same university. Drawing on his interest in natural science, he creates sculptures of wild animals, primarily using terracotta. By leaving traces of his touch and the sculpting process visible on their surfaces, Seto explores the structures and movements of living beings and the essence of their existence. In addition to exhibiting in Japan and internationally, his practice extends across disciplines, including collaborations in fashion and design.
安達響
安達響（2002年京都府生まれ）は、2025年に広島市立大学芸術学部彫刻専攻を卒業。
現在、同大学大学院芸術学研究科造形芸術専攻彫刻に在籍している。
主に大理石を用いた石彫作品を制作し、石に内包された生命の痕跡や時間の蓄積を手がかりに、生と死、過去と現在のつながりを探求している。
2025年、広島市立大学卒業・修了制作展にて優秀賞および買い上げ賞を受賞。
Hibiki Adachi (b. 2002, Kyoto) graduated from the Sculpture Department at Hiroshima City University’s Faculty of Arts in 2025 and is currently pursuing graduate studies in sculpture at the same university. Working primarily with marble, he explores the traces of life and layers of time embedded within the stone, reflecting on the connections between life and death, past and present. In 2025, he received both the Excellence Award and the Acquisition Award at the Hiroshima City University Graduation and Completion Works Exhibition.
