岡本順子

Junko Okamoto

岡本順子（1972年神奈川県生まれ）は、物質の重量感や風化による時間の蓄積を主題に、絵画制作を行う作家である。遺跡や古い家具に見られる、時の経過とともに深まる質感や痕跡への関心を出発点に、物質と時間の関係性を探求してきた。

漆喰を塗り重ね、染料を幾度も染み込ませることで、画面に時間の層を刻み込む独自の手法を用いる。重層的に構築されたマチエールは、ひび割れや滲み、剥離といった痕跡を伴いながら、物質としての存在感を強く立ち上げる。また、鉛筆によるドローイング作品では、描く／消すを繰り返すことで痕跡を蓄積し、繊細さと力強さが同居する独特の画面を形成している。

作品は、風化や侵食といった時間の作用を内包しながら、具体と抽象のあわいに立ち現れる風景や構造を想起させる。静謐でありながらも重厚な存在感を持つその画面は、物質に宿る記憶や、時間の不可視性を可視化する試みでもある。

2017年にはRoyal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition（ロンドン）に入選。2024年には四季彩舎にて個展「時空」を開催。現在も継続的に作品発表を行っており、2026年5月には四季彩舎にて新たな個展の開催を予定している。

Junko Okamoto (b. 1972, Kanagawa, Japan) is an artist whose practice explores the relationship between materiality and the accumulation of time. Drawing inspiration from the aged textures of ruins and antique objects, she investigates how the passage of time manifests within physical surfaces. Okamoto employs a distinctive technique of layering plaster and repeatedly soaking the surface with dyes, embedding temporal strata into the work. The resulting materiality—marked by cracks, stains, and erosion—evokes a strong physical presence. In her pencil works, she builds up surfaces through cycles of drawing and erasing, creating a unique balance of delicacy and intensity through accumulated traces. Her works exist between abstraction and representation, suggesting landscapes and structures shaped by processes of weathering and decay. Quiet yet powerful, they attempt to visualize the invisible dimension of time and the memory embedded within matter. In 2017, she was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition (London). In 2024, she held a solo exhibition “Space-Time” at SHIKISAISHA. She continues to present her work actively, with a new solo exhibition scheduled at SHIKISAISHA in May 2026.
