金丸悠児　Yuji Kanamaru

金丸悠児（1978年 神奈川県生まれ）は、2003年に東京藝術大学美術学部デザイン科を卒業。

在学中に大藪雅孝および中島千波に学び、日本画の表現体系を基盤としながら、独自の絵画表現を展開してきた。

麻布や英字新聞の断片、意図的に生じさせたひび割れなど、異なる要素が混在するユニークなマチエールと、重層的に塗り重ねられた鮮烈かつ柔らかな色彩は、金丸作品の大きな特徴である。

幼少期を中東で過ごした経験に由来する乾いた空気感や、不可思議な生物、街並みのモチーフは、異郷性とノスタルジーが交錯する独自の世界観を形づくっている。

また、社会におけるアートの役割を常に意識し、2002年にはアーティスト集団 C-Depot を設立。中心メンバーとして活動を続けている。

国内外の個展・グループ展、国際的なアートフェアへの出展を通じて、継続的に発表を行っている。

Yuji kanamaru (b. 1978, Kanagawa, Japan) graduated from the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2003.

During his studies, he was influenced by Masataka Oyabu and Chinami Nakajima, two leading figures in Japanese painting, while developing an independent approach to pictorial expression grounded in that tradition.

kanamaru’s works are distinguished by their unique material surfaces, in which fragments of hemp cloth and English newspapers coexist with intentionally created cracks, combined with layers of vivid yet gentle color.

These stratified surfaces give rise to a distinctive painterly language that emphasizes texture, depth, and the accumulation of time.

Memories of his childhood spent in the Middle East inform the dry atmospheric quality of his paintings, as well as recurring motifs of mysterious creatures and urban landscapes.

These elements evoke a sense of otherness and nostalgia, forming a poetic world that invites viewers into an ambiguous space between familiarity and distance.

Deeply conscious of the role of art within society, kanamaru co-founded the artist collective C-Depot in 2002 and continues to play a central role in its activities.

He has exhibited widely in Japan and abroad, including numerous solo and group exhibitions and international art fairs, maintaining an active and sustained practice.
